Our Vision

We are inspiring the playful pursuit of enrichment in the next generation.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create motivational enrichment programs that:

  • Unite the talents and specialties of like-minded local organizations
  • Serve as a year-round resource for parents
  • Support the enrichment efforts of our partner schools
  • Foster leadership and growth opportunities for our staff
  • Inspire a life-long curiosity and desire to learn in all kids

Our Cause

1) Eliminating Summer Learning Loss.

  • Each summer, each child looses an average of over 2 months’ learning from the previous school year.
  • 2/3 of the achievement gap between middle and low-income students is attributed to Summer Learning Loss.
  • Arne Duncan, Secretary of Education: “I don’t worry about the students that are going to summer camps. I worry about the millions of students who don’t have the resources to go to summer camps.”

2) Improving California Science education.

  • 55% of Bay Area 5th graders are failing proficiency tests.
  • 80% of Bay Area teachers spend less than 60 minutes per week on Science education.

Our Services

  • Give Camp to Kids Fund: A school year program featuring Edventure More guest science presenters leading Exploratorium designed K-5 science experiments (that correlate with CA State Science Standards) in partner elementary schools across the Bay Area.

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is in our name. Those feelings that come with an adventure; “excitement”, “wonder”, “anticipation”, “curiosity”, and “self-discovery” are the same emotions we elicit through our activities.

  • First: Get kids curious. Start by asking good questions, presenting a challenge, or do a demonstration that makes them say “Wow! How did you do that!?
  • Second: Get kids doing. Through hands-on projects kids actively learn. Like an old Chinese proverb goes: I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.
  • Third: Get kids laughing. Humor creates positive associations with learning. After we make something, we figure out how to turn it into a game. When you play, you laugh. When you laugh, you want to learn more.
  • Fourth: Get kids cooperating. Helping other builds confidence, self-esteem, team work skills, reinforces concepts and teaches them about being good people…an equal, if not more important, lesson that we teach at camp.
  • Fifth: Get kids inspired. Challenge kids to try new ways to experiment or create at home. Give them and their parents resources so they can continue the exploring on their own. Camp lasts only a short time. Inspiration lasts forever.

Our Story

Edventure More is a place where Curiosity is Cool, Confidence is Contagious, Laughter Teaches and Doing Good, Feels Good. Sharon Mor and Ed Caballero co-founded Edventure More in 2004 out of a shared commitment to playful, inquiry-based childhood learning. Ed is a San Francisco native and graduate of Cornell University with a degree in Psychology. Raised in Cupertino, Sharon is a graduate of UCLA with a degree in Sociology. Combined, Sharon and Ed have over 20 years experience working in the field of summer camps, enrichment programming, motivational tutoring, and mentoring. During this time they witnessed first-hand that kids could discover previously untapped passions and interests when they learned in a positive, upbeat and supportive environment.

Camp Edmo was the first program launched in 2004, partnering with the Bay Area’s 4 top museums to provide inquiry-based enrichment to K-5th grade youth. Then the In-class Curriculum Enhancements (ICE) program was created, bringing award-winning, hands-on science activities directly into classrooms. Soon after our Camperships were born, granting over $135,000 in scholarships since 2004.

Despite the growth of the organization, both Ed and Sharon remain involved in core aspects of programming. Ed still personally tests and approves every Science, Art and Animation activity kids experience at camp. Sharon still spearheads staff training and development programs. Edventure More continues to partner with leaders in the field of childhood enrichment to inspire the next generation of scientists, artists and educators.
